Late summer and fall boast some of the most enjoyable weather and engaging activities that the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. In this article, we’re sharing some of our favorites!
1. Shaw Bay on the Wye River - This is a well-known and often overlooked anchorage near the entrance to the Wye River. It has deepwater access and plenty of space to pick a quiet part of the anchorage. This is also a great anchorage for raft ups with friends. You could spend a whole day exploring the nooks and crannies of the Wye River.
When you’re on the water, emergencies happen quickly and it is important to know how to call for help. In these scenarios, the ability to request help quickly can be the difference between life and death. This blog post details 2 easy ways for you to find and relay your location when you need help on the water. Whether you’re an accomplished boater or new to the maritime world, breakdowns happen. Rule number one, don't panic. Find out how you can be better prepared in the event of a propulsion failure.
Our friends at TowBoatU.S. have produced a few helpful videos to help you as you learn the ropes.
Hello all fellow boaters on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. This is Capt. Adam with Tow Jamm Marine, TowBoatU.S Kent Narrows/Knapps Narrows. I am coming to you today with a navigational hazard that last season caused damage to some vessels out on the water. We wanted to bring this to your attention in order to help inform our fellow boaters of this hazard.
Hats off to all the parents running businesses and raising kids - I would relate it to having a garage band play in your living room while you try to juggle fire balls and also prepare macaroni and cheese all while answering the phone and changing a diaper. It is the hardest, yet most rewarding feeling in the world. Life as a young towboat family can be full of adrenaline (Hurry hon, there is a boat taking on water off of Tilghman point!) to relaxed and full of family time.
